Meditation, an ancient practice with profound modern relevance, holds the key to unlocking our inner potential. My journey with meditation began with struggles but led to a surprising realization about the innate wisdom we all possess.
Initially, meditation seemed an insurmountable challenge. Night after night, I attempted grounding exercises, only to find my mind wandering. Frustrated but determined, I decided to change my approach. On a bright, sunny day, I chose to meditate in daylight, settling on my balcony bathed in sunlight.
As I followed the guided meditation, I finally managed to focus. The recording instructed me to visualize a bright yellow light emanating from the centre of my chest, expanding to envelop my entire body in a radiant orange aura. This visualization exercise triggered an unexpected childhood memory.
Years ago, as a six-year-old, I had awakened from a nightmare, too terrified to leave my bed. In that moment of fear, without any formal meditation training, I instinctively created an imaginary protective bubble around myself. This self-created shield gave me comfort and a sense of safety.
The parallels between this childhood coping mechanism and the guided meditation technique struck me profoundly. How had my younger self intuitively known to use a method so similar to what meditation teachers now instructed? This realization opened a gate of curiosity within me.
I began to understand that we all possess innate wisdom and power. The journey of meditation is not about learning something new, but about unlearning the clutter we accumulate in navigating the harsh realities of the world. It’s about rediscovering our true selves through our own unique
medium.
This experience taught me that unlearning typical ways of thinking is the first step in learning about ourselves. By doing so, we can uncover hidden truths about the world and ourselves that empower us. Everything we need is already within us – we carry the wisdom of our past lives and experiences in our souls.
Meditation serves as a tool to tap into this inner wellspring of knowledge and power. It reminds us that we don’t need external validation or resources to find peace and strength. Instead, by turning
inward and reconnecting with our core selves, we can access a wealth of wisdom that has been with us all along.
In essence, meditation is not just a practice, but a journey back to our authentic selves – a journey
that reveals the power we’ve always possessed.
